TWIST

By Richard Boyd

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He will strengthen your heart: wait, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14

We gain strength through waiting on the Lord. Interestingly also in life, we achieve many good things if we will wait and be patient. Yet, waiting does not necessarily mean being patient. When one waits, they are anticipating something, and are looking for a certain thing.

The original Hebrew root word for wait is (qāvâ) pronounced Kaw-Vaw, and it means to twist, expect, and to look towards. What does twisting have to do with waiting? The concept behind this is when we expect something, we are in a mode of receiving.

By waiting on the Lord, we find ourselves binding to time to Him. He is the one who gives strength, so we must interlock with His Spirit and the Word of God. During our prayer times, we typically spend more time requesting, but it is equally important to spend time waiting on Him.

Waiting or sitting before the Lord, is a very important part of our relationship with God. Wait on the LORD, and keep His way, and He shall lift you to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, you shall witness it. Psalm 37:34.

It is in waiting that God speaks to us, it is in waiting we gain insight into the heavenly realm. Waiting twists us together with Him so that we are in tune with His purpose for our lives. The purpose of waiting in prayer is to allow God to calm our spirit so that The Holy Spirit can speak.

Waiting takes time, and patience, one can not wait for just a few minutes, especially in the presence of God. When we are waiting, we create a Holy space so that God can connect with us. It is in this Holy Space we witness revelations and insight in the presence of God.
