UP AND OVER

By Richard Boyd (Art Work: Crystal Garcia)

To overcome means to become more assertive than that which has a hold on us. Every person will have to encounter forces that rise against them. This is no ordinary task, neither easy at the very least. Living a life to overcome is a necessary act, and at times we need the appropriate help to be freed. It's like climbing a mountain with the proper gear.

For those who are followers of Christ, we are learning that we can be more than overcomers. It's because of what Christ achieved on our behalf. I have said these things to you, that in me you may obtain peace. In the world, you will have troubles. But be encouraged; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

One way to overcome or at least aim towards becoming an overcomer can be summed up in the following. While on the earth Christ lived a life continually seeking the will of God. In these days He went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. Luke 6:12.

Once we recognize that we are in a spiritual battle, and it seems as if the forces of evil have engulfed us? Know that we have been given a clear path to victory. There are multiple examples in the Bible of those who have had insurmountable aggression by spiritual forces.

These forces are determined to weaken the mind, soul, and body. We can't allow them to gain an advantage over us. It is here that prayer and faith in God's word are our only weapons of authority against them.
A day will come when this life will be only a memory and we will live in eternity with God. At that time there will be no more enemies seeking to destroy our lives. This is a constant reminder of Christ's victory over evil forces. Why not aim towards living an overcoming life now? Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4.

Whatever you might be going through at the moment, although it may appear unconquerable. Understand that faith and prayer in God produces the power in overcoming spiritual forces. Jesus was absolute when He said: But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:6.

There is no greater achievement in life than to have the endorsement of God on you. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Matthew 28:18
